Kathleen Kaa, PhD, RPh
Interim Chief Commercial Officer
Kathleen Kaa was named Foundation Medicine’s Interim Chief Commercial Officer in June of 2021. She is a trained pharmacist, health economist, and outcomes researcher who brings over two decades of diverse experience and leadership in delivering new products, programs, and services to market within the global healthcare sector.
Ms. Kaa joined Foundation Medicine in 2019 as the Vice President of Commercial Programs, where she led National Accounts and strategic organized customer engagement efforts. In that role, she helped shape and launch an enhanced customer engagement model and was responsible for developing many of Foundation Medicine’s innovative organized customer collaborations, including the first-of-its-kind partnership with OneOncology to advance personalized medicine at community oncology practices.
Prior to joining Foundation Medicine, Ms. Kaa was Vice President of Global Access Strategy, Oncology at Roche, where she developed and drove strategies to optimize market access for both early- and late-stage oncology products. In that role, she also led the integration of stakeholder-centric reimbursement, pricing, and health policy issues into a global access transformation that expanded Roche’s world-wide focus. Before this, Ms. Kaa held senior leadership positions at Genentech where she led large patient, provider, and payer-facing teams to guide broad commercialization, market access, and managed market initiatives and engagements in the U.S. market.
Previously, Ms. Kaa served in leadership roles at AmerisourceBergen, The Lash Group, and Aetna Health, leading a variety of teams in data analytics, business intelligence, and pharmacy and medical benefit management. She holds extensive national clinical and health plan management experience from her time at Aetna and Prudential Healthcare in the areas of clinical and formulary management, pharmacoeconomics, program and business development, and disease management.
Ms. Kaa served on the Board of Directors for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the Board of Trustees for the AMCP Foundation and held the role of President for the Managed Care Network. She earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacy and Health Economics from the University of South Carolina and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Washington.
